Books into Movies!

I’m sure that many of you have heard that the movie version of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (check out the =awesome= trailerhas been pushed back to July 2009, and that the Twilight movie has been moved up to November 21.  So we have to wait a little longer to see Harry & Co. work their magic, but Bella & Edward will be here before you know it.  Wondering what other books are being turned into movies?
Well, the movie version of Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist by: Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, which follows the late night wanderings of (of course) Nick and Nora, two strangers who meet up for one incredible night, is set to be released October 3, 2008.
Jeanne DuPrau’s sci fi/adventure novel The City of Ember  will be gracing theater screens on October 10, 2008.
The Tale of Desperaux by: Kate DiCamillo, an adventure story about a brave mouse who sets out to rescue the princess that he loves, hits screens December 19, 2008.
And, as of this moment (because you know how quickly things can change in Hollywood!) you can look forward to the movie versions of Inkheart by: Cornelia Funke, Cirque du Freak by: Darren Shan, Coraline by: Neil Gaiman, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by: C.S. Lewis sometime in 2009.

Ah yes, all of the book adaptations into film. The one adaptation I’m really looking forward to is The Road, novel written by Cormac McCarthy (who also wrote last year’s Oscar success No Country for Old Men) being released on November 26. I’m always skeptical when it comes to adapting a truly great book to film, but I’m still excited nonetheless.
