Are you a big Greg Heffley fan? Or maybe just a budding comic book artist? Well, then check out the cool Diary of a Wimpy Kid contest running until January 31, 2009. You can create your own comic and send it in for a chance to win an author visit from Jeff Kinney to your school!
The Letters About Literature contest is for those of you who really love to read. Choose a book (fiction or non-fiction), a short story, poem, essay, or speech that you feel strongly about and write a letter to the author about how that piece of literature affected you. This contest is open to grades 4-12, and entries must be postmarked by December 6, 2008.
A contest of a different sort will be taking place in November–National Novel Writing Month. Join the Young Writers Program (for teens 17 & younger) and compete against time to reach your writing goal! NaNoWriMo is more about quantity rather than quality, and the challenge helps many writers sit down and really work consistently on a project–plus, you have the 11 months until next year’s challenge to edit, edit, and edit again
A great contest for anyone with dreams of writing the next great novel!
